Catholic Teens - September 28, 2005

Hey All--
Hope you are all doing very well! The lives of the saints are indeed
powerful. Why? Because they offer living and historical proof of the Truth
of Christianity and the great things a person can accomplish while
cooperating with God. John Paul II was very fond of pointing out holy
people in all sorts of different situations. As St. Josemaria Escriva
says, "there are no second class jobs in the service of God." So whether
you are single, married, a priest, a sister, a carpenter, a lawyer, a
factory worker, a teacher, all can be and indeed are called to be saints. A
great website to look at for information on all types of saints is the
Patron Saints Index:

Question of the Week:
"Explain ways that he devil might trick me into thinking it is God--I heard
that he can disguise himself as an angel of light. How do I know?
-You are referring to 2 Corinthians 11:14 "And no wonder, for even Satan
masquerades as an angel of light." St. Paul is referring to false teachers
here who go about and deceive people away from the Truth. Indeed, this is
the devil's goal to take one away from God. For the devil is not strong
enough to attack God. So the devil strikes at those whom God loves, us, and
seeks to draw us away from God.
So how do you know? That's where the Church, and especially the Bible comes
in. Jesus told His apostles, especially Peter, "You are the Rock upon which
I will build my Church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against
you. (Matthew 16:18-19) Jesus was telling all of us, that the Church would
be His guardian of the Truth. So where do we look to not be deceived, we
see if what we are hearing matches up with what Jesus has taught us in His
Church. If it's different, it's not of God. We look at the Bible. Is what
we're hearing different from what the Bible says? Then it's not of God.
God is Truth and God doesn't change.
As long as we stay close to God, especially through His Church and His Word (Bible), we should not fear being lead astray. Because, always remember,
God is indeed more powerful then the devil. Stay close to Him, and you will
be fine.
