Catholic Teens 5-8-07

Hey All—

Saw a report on Monday that some 65,000 people have already registered for World Youth Day in Australia next summer. And registration has only been open for 50 days so far!

Here is what Pope Benedict had to say to youth in the Philippines…the same could be said to all of us!
New Apostles Sorely Needed, Says PontiffIn Message for Philippines' Youth Day (Zenit.org).- The world urgently needs new apostles anchored in Christ and in his Word, Benedict XVI says in a message heard by more than 10,000 Philippine youths. In his message, read by the apostolic nuncio, Archbishop Fernando Filoni, the Pope reminded youth of the "urgent need for the emergence of a new generation of apostles anchored firmly in the Word of Christ, capable of responding to the challenges of our times and prepared to spread the Gospel far and wide." The AsiaNews agency of the Pontifical Institute for Foreign Missions published the Holy Father's words. He appealed to young people to "testify to the light of Christ, the shining beacon for our life's journey" and to "become familiar with the Bible, one's compass pointing out the road to follow." "By reading [the Bible], one will know Christ. Reading, studying and meditating on the Word should then flow into a life of consistent fidelity to Christ and his teachings," he said. ZE06111403

Many of you got Bibles for your Confirmation….don’t let it collect dust! During this time of year, you may want to read the Acts of the Apostles—the story of the early Church. It’s an enjoyable, interesting, and historical work of just what happened after Jesus’ Resurrection.

Intentions:
-Some of you may remember Will Goodman from your Confirmation Retreat. He’s involved in all sorts of pro-life activities around the country and belongs to St. Peter’s Parish. He’s leaving for Poland to speak at an International Conference in defense of life there. Please keep him in your prayers!
-For all marriages, that divorce may never happen.
-For all victims of violence.
-For peace in the world and an end to terrorism.
-For all the other intentions you hold in your hearts, we pray to the Lord.
Lord, hear our prayer.
